Intro

Tuscany, famed for its beautiful countryside and sleepy hilltop towns, wakes up one weekend in June to host the maddest race of the motorsport season. Known the world over as Mugello, this race is famous for its thrilling no holds barred racing. Italian riders, cheered on by massed banks of fans, on a mission to win it or bin it. The Italian motogp is not to be missed.

Certaldo Overview

Certaldo is located in the south of Florence province, on the border with the province of Siena. Like many other Tuscan towns, Certaldo is divided between its medieval walled town on a hill and the residential town below. In the lower town is the main square Piazza Boccaccio and your 4 star hotel.

The charming medieval upper town is reached on foot or by cablecar from the station in the main piazza built almost entirely of brick, it's well preserved despite some damage during the Second World War. A terraced garden and a walkway overlooking the town walls provide a splendid view stretching from the hills of the Val d'Elsa to San Gimignano.

Certaldo has a rail station which connects the town with Florence and Siena making the town an excellent base for a Tuscan holiday.

Hotel Overview

The story of our Certaldo hotel dates back to the 16th century when it was a mill used to grind wheat. The mill which at the time belonged to the Florentine Cavalcanti family, was seized with other property by Cosimo I De’ Medici after he rose to power in 1537.

Around 1570 the property was transferred to the Noble Order of the “Cavalieri di Santo Stefano” of Pisa. It was even then a building of considerable importance provided as it was with as many as five millstones.

During the restoration of the mill and the construction of the Hotel Certaldo, several historical findings came to light which are now exhibited at a museum specially devoted to the age-old “Mulino di Certaldo” and which illustrate its operation.

Today the building has become a beautiful four-star hotel, carefully restructured to maintain the tradition of its glorious past intact thus bringing an important piece of Certaldo history back to life.

Race tickets

Designed in the 70's "the Mugello" is one of the most scenic, modern and safe racing facilities in the world. The track runs over 5km through the forests and green areas. The elevated areas along the track permit the spectators to take part fully in the race.

Important notice 1
The Mugello circuit is situated high in the rolling Tuscan hills. The race is one of the biggest races in world motorsport and the large traffic volumes always lead to delays . Guests should note that getting into the circuit on Sunday requires a very early departure from the hotel.

Important notice 2
The Mugello circuit is huge and rolling and guests should be prepared for some long hilly walks.

Poggio Secco Grandstand

Your ticket, valid for Saturday Qualifying and Sunday Race Day gives access to the fabulous Poggio Secco grandstand. Our consecutively numbered tickets ensure you sit with your partner and the rest of the MotoExpress group. Situated on the highest point of the circuit. This Poggio Secco grandstand offers fantastic views of the long, fast sweeping bends of Luco, Materassi and Poggio Secco curves. This is the place to watch and gasp in amazement as riders perform breathtaking high-speed overtakes. Huge video walls keep you up to date with all the race action.

Ticket Upgrade - Centrale Grandstand - Silver

There are amazing views from this brand new grandstand. The seats have panoramic views of the pit lane and into the team garages. Witnessing the build up to the race and the start and finish adds a new dimension to the Mugello experience. And when it comes to watching the wild podium celebrations you have the best seats in the house. Private toilets and dedicated food stalls adds to the comfort of the weekend.

VIP Hospitality

Holders of Centrale Grandstand tickets can upgrade to the Centrale VIP terrace with full hospitality that includes open bar, buffet lunch and afternoon snacks. The VIP tickets can be purchased inside the grandstand expect to pay approx Euro 120 for a two day (Saturday and Sunday) pass. You can also purchase individual day passes.

Welcome reception party

The weekend starts with a memorable and stylish reception party in the hotel beautiful grounds by the side of the river. Enjoy fine Italian wines and luxury snacks and get to know your fellow guests.

Celebration dinner

The Celebration Dinner has become a much loved part of the MotoExpress race weekend. An opportunity to relax and chat with newly made friends. To recount the wonderful experiences of a high octane race weekend enjoyed.

A traditional Tuscan feast with complimentary wine served in the beautiful grounds of the hotel. We dine in typical Italian style, grouped around long tables. The conversation just like the wine flows late into the evening as we relive the excitement of the last few days. A wonderful end to a truly memorable weekend.

Airport / hotel transfers

For this event you should book flights to Pisa or Florence airport. The cost of the flights are not included in the event price.

Transfers from Pisa or Florence airport to your hotel can be added as a cost option during the booking process.

Rail transfers. If you wish to save money consider arriving to the hotel via train. Our hotel is only 200 metres from Certaldo rail station. Pisa Airport rail station is just 40 meters from the Check-In hall.
An hourly rail service connects the airport to Certaldo (change at Empoli) expect to pay Euro 7.00 / way / person

Hi John & Linda, Just a short note to thank you for a great weekend at Mugello and Certaldo. It was  wonderful experience both at and away from the track. The races were excellent and the crowd unbelievable. It could only happen in Italy!
